Scholarships & Education

One of the Foundation's areas of interest is 'Learning Advantage'. The continuing education and scholarship of our staff members is an important way to create a more positive environment for our patients.

The two areas of support through the Foundation are:

The Gaye Ross Memorial Nursing Scholarship

The Gaye Ross Scholarship was created in memory of one of the Drumheller Health Centre's finest nurses. Gaye Ross was an active member of the Drumheller community as well as a respected Registered Nurse. This scholarship has been available for many years and is available to qualified applicants who live within the perimeter determined by the scholarship committee, and who is attending, or will be attending, post-secondary education to become a Registered Nurse or a Registered Psychiatric Nurse.

Applicants must submit an essay outlining why they are deserving of the scholarship. When the deadline ends, applications are reviewed by a committee and selected by vote. Successful candidates will be contacted by telephone and date is arranged to meet in person to award the scholarship of $1,500. The successful applicant agrees to allow their name and image to be used in press releases, internet communications and upon a plaque that is displayed in the hospital.

Applications must be submitted by midnight, September 1st of each year.

Those wishing to donate to the Gaye Ross Scholarship are welcome to do so. Please click on 'Give Today' and be part of better nursing for our patients.

The Dr. Aiello Scholarship Fund

The Dr. Aiello Scholarship fund was created through the wishes and generosity of the Aiello family in September of 2015. The Continuing Care patient was a special interest and concern for Dr. Albert Aiello during his practice with our hospital and he wished to encourage and support the person who worked with our fragile clients here in Drumheller.

This fund was created to assist those staff members employed through the Drumheller Health Centre with Educational Development that would enhance our clients and residents.

Applications are to be submitted well in advance of need. They may be found by clicking here. Print then fill out the application. All applications must be signed off by the applicant's supervisor before they are submitted. Please note the limits on transportation and meals - as noted on the application form.

Applications are submitted to the Foundation Office then they will be submitted to the Educational Committee for review and approval. They are accepted on an ongoing basis.
