Excellent Cancer Care Made a Difference

I had the best care when I had Breast Cancer ten years ago, starting with Dr. Olfert being my family doctor and taking time to explain all my options. He was there for me to answer my questions and console me.  Dr. Jordan did my mastectomy and even came to the hospital to see me a day after surgery.  That does not happen very often in big city hospitals.  After that, Dr. Olfert got me into the Tom Baker Cancer Centre in Calgary to see a great oncologist, Dr. Webster, to figure out what further treatments were needed.  Chemotherapy was the decided treatment and the first session was in Calgary with the following treatments in Drumheller.  I cannot say enough about how lucky we are to have a Cancer Clinic available to us in Drumheller.  At that time, Dr. Racz was in charge and along with her staff (Tammy, Shauna, Audrey, and Wendy), I had great care given to me.  Following chemotherapy a few weeks later, I ended up back in the Drumheller Health Centre for eleven days because I had no white blood cells.  I had the best care given to me by all the staff on the floor plus the lab staff, who came in daily to administer blood tests (which were not fun).  Later on, Dr. Kuschke was in charge of the Cancer Clinic and both himself and the staff continued to give me excellent care with regular checkups.  All in all, I could not have gotten better care than I did at the Drumheller Health Centre and I am forever grateful.  Thank you!
